May at last! I am trading in my wool socks for flip flops and though it isn’t exactly hot in the mountains, one can tell that the sticky days of summer are imminent. I am very excited to announce that I am offering a 21 Day, early summer group cleanse next month, beginning June 1st. Seasonal shifts–particularly from winter to spring & summer–are great opportunities to cleanse. It’s not dissimilar to what is going on in the natural world around us–the earth warms, the snow and ice melts, and there is a release of water, green emerging from the ground and the trees, a shift in energy from the very still and introverted, to movement, awakening, new growth, and regeneration. Most of us come out of the winter months ready to shed layers of all kinds–coats, winter weight, or some more subtle feeling of heaviness we just can’t seem to shake. Whether your immune system needs a boost, your brain feels foggy, your body feels heavy, or you’re just interested in doing something new and healthy for yourself, there is something for you in this program.
I’ve written about cleansing here before and there are many different ways of approaching a cleanse. My group cleanse, Break Free*Drop In*Rebuild, is a gentle, whole-foods based cleansing program. Just to clear up any confusion, this is not a 21 days juice cleanse, nor is it a deprivation cleanse. You will eat delicious meals, feel nourished, and most importantly, learn a way of feeding yourself that you can integrate into your daily life. This is about breaking free from unhealthy habits and creating new ones that work for you in their place.
If this piques your interest and you have more questions, you may always write in the comments section here or contact me through my Holistic Health Coach practice website. You can participate in this cleanse from anywhere in the world. All you need is an open mind, access to a kitchen, and access to email to receive regular support from me.

I hope to hear from you soon. In the meantime, here is one of my go-to snack recipes when cleansing. Even your sweet tooth needs a little love on a cleanse after all. Happy Spring!
Raspberry Green Applesauce
2 green apples, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 cup fresh (or frozen) raspberries
juice of half a lemon
1/2 cup water
pinch of salt
1 t cinnamon
Place the apples, raspberries and water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft enough to mash with the back of a spoon and the sauce starts to thicken–about 20 minutes.
If all the liquid is absorbed but the apples are not yet soft, stir in more water 2 T at a time, letting it absorb completely before adding more.
Once the apples are cooked, remove the pan from heat and stir in lemon juice, salt and cinnamon. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. You can eat this warm or let it cool. This is delicious as dessert or an afternoon snack whether you’re cleansing or not. I also like it for breakfast, warmed and topped with chopped nuts and seeds.
Note: If you prefer a smoother textured applesauce you can run it through a high speed blender or food mill or use an immersion blender to get it to your desired texture.
